Welcome to Australia's most centrally located Club - Alice Springs Radio Control Modellers. We are relatively small in numbers, having a fairly steady membership of some 18 persons. The Club is affiliated with the MAAA through the Northern Territory Model Aeronautical Association.
We do cater for most types of aeromodelling, but R/C fixed wing sport power models are just about the only models flown on a regular basis.
Our main flying session is on Sunday afternoons from about 1 pm to 5pm. Visitors to this fair town are welcome to come out and join in with us. If you bring a model, we are only too happy to have you fly with us and enjoy our facilities. However, please bring your MAAA card with you as proof of membership.
Feel free to contact any of the office bearers if you are in the Alice, or are contemplating coming up here on a visit. All the better if you can manage to bring a model with you of course.
Our facilities consist of a 120 metre by 1 0 metre bitumen runway with two associated bitumen taxiways. Our pits area is also bitumen and is covered by a large carport to keep the sun at bay during our hot summer afternoons. The photograph on the map was taken by our treasurer, Glynne Thomas, with a camera mounted on his model. Must have been one of his better landings the photo survived !!!!
Referring to the map, it doesn't actually show it, but at the roundabout you make a left turn to keep on Undoolya Road. You travel for 3 km on the gravel road until you come to a sign telling you that you are a trespasser. Continue past the sign for 300 metres and you can see the runway and associated structures about 80 metres off the road to your right. As they say, "You can't miss it"
